Original artwork description:

This piece is part of my ongoing series, "What do we (women) do? " which explores the theme of women’s unappreciated and often invisible labour. Created using oil paints on A2-sized paper, My unique style, characterised by loose brushstrokes and painterly techniques, is employed here to accentuate the fluidity and motion of the scene. The paper’s natural texture adds a sense of fragility, mirroring the delicate balance women maintain in their everyday lives. The contrast between the detailed figure and the simplified, almost abstract background draws attention to the central subject, underscoring how these tasks often blend into the background and go unnoticed.
This study is a testament to the beauty and complexity of women’s contributions. It invites viewers to contemplate the value of this labour and recognise the resilience and dedication that underlie these seemingly ordinary activities
